The Trump administration has given New York another month to cease its congestion toll after the state ignored a Sunday deadline to shut down the $9 fee for most drivers coming into the busiest part of Manhattan.

The USDOT issued an ultimatum to New York Monday: end the $9 congestion pricing toll or lose federal highway money.

In a letter sent from U.S Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday, set a new deadline to end congestion pricing—May 21. New York will have until that date to either end the program or “prove their actions are not illegal,” according to a statement from Duffy, a member of President Donald Trump’s administration.
