Jonesboro city leaders continued to clash at the first meeting since the city's mayor abruptly resigned and then reversed her decision hours later.

One week after Jonesboro Mayor Donya Sartor made the decision to rescind her resignation, members of the public voiced their support for her during last night’s city council meeting.

JONESBORO, Ga. — Jonesboro Mayor Donya Sartor is resigning, she announced in a special called meeting on Thursday afternoon. Sartor says the city council has called for a forensic audit of Jonesboro’s finances. While she says there have been no allegations of wrongdoing, she wants to cooperate with the audit by stepping down.

Sartor made it clear that she is not stepping down, insisting that her decision to rescind her resignation was an emotional reaction to what she believes has been a pattern of harassment by certain council members.

Councilmembers say they will push for a vote to accept her resignation, even though she now says she's not quitting.
