NASCAR's Mike Forde has responded to Denny Hamlin's claims that the proposed All-Star "Run What Ya Brung" feature would have cost the teams roughly $2 million.

Last week, NASCAR announced the new format for the All Star race, including an extension to 250 laps and the addition of a promoter’s caution flag. Shortly after the announcement, rumors circulated that NASCAR had actually proposed adding another element to the race that fans have wanted for years.

Denny Hamlin, who competes for Joe Gibbs Racing but also co-owns 23XI Racing, gave some insight into why on his weekly podcast, Actions Detrimental. Hamlin also did his own research, reaching out to other teams to learn more about their reasons while opening up on his own.
