During his State of the Union speech, President Donald Trump announced the arrest of a man suspected of conspiring in the Kabul airport attack that killed Roseville Marine Nicole Gee in Afghanistan in 2021.

Sharifullah was arrested in 2019 by the U.S.-backed Afghan government at the time but escaped from prison on Aug. 15, 2021, as the Taliban took Kabul.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the suspect accused of orchestrating the 2021 Kabul airport bombing arrived in the U.S. on Tuesday to face charges for developing a plot that killed 13 American service members and at least 170 Afghan civilians.
