LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Friday, a federal judge sentenced the man who shot at then-Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg in 2022 to 17 years and six months with five years of supervised release.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky man who shot at Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg when he was a candidate in 2022 was sentenced Friday to 17 years and 6 months in federal prison after a tense sentencing hearing where Greenberg spoke of the harm the attack has caused.

I don’t know how I miraculously survived,” Greenberg wrote Friday. “Six gun shots fired directly at me from close range by a person I did not recognize.”

"It is only a miracle ... that no one was hurt, possibly killed," U.S. District Judge Benjamin Beaton said after a four-hour sentencing hearing.

Quintez Brown, 24, of Louisville, will be sentenced on federal charges of interfering with a federally protected right with a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm during a violent crime.

Federal prosecutors are calling for Quintez Brown, the man who shot at Craig Greenberg during his mayoral campaign, to receive the max sentence. Brown fired shots at Greenberg in his Butchertown campaign office in February 2022, with a bullet grazing Greenberg's sweater. No one was injured.
