The Golden State Warriors have issued a major injury update on Jonathan Kuminga ahead of Friday's game against the Sacramento Kings.

The arrival of Butler, who is a better and more experienced version of Kuminga, has revitalized the Warriors, who have gone 3-1 since the trade. It is a big question mark if Kuminga can co-exist with Butler, who likes him, is a non-shooting wing and prefers to attack the rim.

Kuminga, 22, participated in practice for a second straight day on Thursday but again wasn’t cleared for live contact. The Warriors aren’t going to activate him before he scrimmages with the team, effectively ruling him out for Friday night’s contest in Sacramento.

"Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who suffered a sprained right ankle on January 4 vs. Memphis and has missed the last 21 games, returned to team practice this evening at Chase Center for the first time since sustaining the injury," the statement read. "His return to game action will be based on his continued progress and physical readiness."

It has been more than a month and a half since Jonathan Kuminga played in an NBA game. His ankle injury has lingered and sidelined him for 21 games. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

In 32 games this season, Kuminga had been averaging 16.8 points. His impending return will alter the Warriors rotation, which seems to have found a rhythm with Butler's addition. Butler has been a plus-62 in the box score in his five games with the Warriors.
