Fargo police officers on Wednesday fatally shot an armed individual while responding to a mental health call, police say. Officers were dispatched to a “medical assist for a suicidal individual” at a residence in the 6100 block of 61st Avenue S. just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from Police Chief Dave Zibolski.

Fargo police said in a release that officers fatally shot a suicidal person just before 11 a.m. of Wednesday morning. Officers were called to the 6100 block of 61st Avenue South for a medical assist for a suicidal individual at a home.

Austin Strom, 25, was killed in the August shooting. Police say he was assaulting another church member, 66-year-old Kent Hodges, when a third man pulled up. A West Fargo teacher, Don Barron, pulled the trigger in what attorneys say was self defense.
