The NBA on Sunday announced three finalists for each of seven major awards and three Pistons are in the running. Cade Cunningham is a finalist for Most Improved Player, Malik Beasley for Sixth Man of the Year and J.B. Bickerstaff for Coach of the Year.

The Pistons shot 31.8% (7-for-22) in the final period, and were outscored 40-21. They looked like an inexperienced team late, letting the game escape from them as the road crowd roared. Mistakes piled late, and they finished the night with 19 turnovers, off of which the Knicks scored 25 points — 11 in the fourth.

The New York Knicks had a 21-0 run in the fourth quarter, when Detroit had more turnovers than baskets, and won Game 1 123-112.

The Detroit Pistons were a little more than nine minutes from ending the longest postseason losing streak in NBA history, playing with poise for three quarters Saturday night. A mistake-filled final quarter meant the wait will go on for the Pistons.
