A high school student is recovering Friday morning after being shot leaving a high school in Staten Island on Thursday. It was one of three incidents involving guns in schools, also in the Bronx and Queens.

A gun was recovered at a school on Staten Island, but threats against two intermediate schools were debunked by the NYPD.

STATEN ISLAND - A 17-year-old was shot in the leg outside a high school on Staten Island on Thursday afternoon, police said. It happened at 12:56 p.m. at Marks Place, which is very close to Curtis High School and McKee High School. Police said the 17-year-old was taken to Richmond University Medical Center and is in stable condition.

The boy was found to be toting a 9 mm firearm when school safety agents searched him around 10:15 a.m. inside Curtis High School on Hamilton Avenue in St. George, authorities and sources said.
