The Trump administration says it will send 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles after two days of isolated clashes between federal immigration agents and protesters.

The National Guard was deployed to Los Angeles County as anti-ICE protests continued to escalate Saturday afternoon and into the evening. The unrest is centered in the city of Paramount, California, where protesters clashed with federal authorities,

Democrats in Congress and some military and law enforcement officials expressed concern about the plan, which Defense Department officials have not yet approved.

The U.S. Army celebrates its 250th birthday on June 14th, which coincides with President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, and will be marked by a parade that may include tanks and rocket launchers at the National Mall.
