National Guard troops began arriving in Los Angeles early Sunday on orders from President Donald Trump in response to clashes in recent days between federal immigration authorities and protesters seeking to block them from carrying out deportations.
President Donald Trump signed a memorandum "deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to address the lawlessness" in California as demonstrations opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations continue in the state, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement Saturday evening.
President Trump said he is deploying 2,000 National Guard troops in response to demonstrations against deportations.
Approximately 44 people” were administratively arrested and one person was arrested on an obstruction charge, Homeland Security Investigations said.
