David Beckham, who many expected to receive an honor after his appearance at a Buckingham Palace state banquet earlier this month, was not on the list this time

LONDON — Actor Stephen Fry and former England soccer manager Gareth Southgate will be knighted by King Charles III as the New Year Honors list was released on Monday. London Mayor Sadiq Khan and former West Midlands Mayor Andy Street were also awarded knighthoods, the BBC reported.

Stephen Fry has been knighted in the U.K.'s annual New Year Honors list, while Carey Mulligan and Sarah Lancashire have been named CBEs.
