French standout Cyprien Sarrazin is awake and in stable condition a day after undergoing surgery on a head injury sustained in a crash during training for a World Cup downhill.

French Alpine skier Cyprien Sarrazin sustained a subdural hematoma — a collection of blood between the skull and the brain — in a downhill training crash in Bormio, Italy, on Friday. Sarrazin, 30, was set to undergo surgery Friday night to drain the hematoma.

French standout Cyprien Sarrazin is in intensive care with a head injury and will undergo surgery later Friday after a crash during training for a World Cup downhill race on the slope set to be used for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
